Bandung
This city is the provincial capital of West Java and Indonesia' s third largest city. Known in colonial times as the Paris of Java because of its European ambiance and sophistication, Bandung shares with Miami a fine legacy of Tropical Deco architecture dating from the 1920's.
Bandung has its own unique culture and language, both called Sundanese, the the major ethnic group. The ancient kingdoms of Pajajaran, Tarumanegara , Banten and Cirebon are the roots of Sundanese culture.
The Sundanese people are soft-spoken. Most of them are moslem, so we can see strong islamic values in their lives. They possess natural friendliness and politeness. The Sundanese are lighthearted people who have a love for bright colors. They have a strong sense of helping each other when in need. The women of the Bandung region are known for their beauty (some say this is the real reason it is called the flower city).
The beautiful Parahayangan mountains, Bandung's pleasant climate and lush surroundings have offered an escape from the heat of the lowlands since the mid 19th century when it was the heart of the region's most prosperous plantation area. Host to the historic Asia Africa conference in 1955, Bandung is now a center of higher education ,commerce and aircraft industry which despite its modern amenities still retains much of its colonial era charm.

Many torism spots stretch from Mount Tangkubanparahu on the North to Lake Patenggang on the South, from the giant Saguling Dam on the West to Cinulang Waterfall on the East. In addition, they are now adequately facilitated with transportation facilities. For those who want to relax, just don¹t bother yourselves bringing food from home, since there are various kinds of restaurants and food stalls providing sorts of dishes and drinks along the way. Despite its beautiful panorama, Bandung Regency is also enriched with many kinds of arts. Both traditional and modern arts can be found in sub district towns as well as in villages.
